A New Year, A Special New Podcast Series

Neetal ParekhWelcome to the new year! It has been an eventful few weeks, with the launch of the book and a number of happening onInnov8social.  There has been a lot of thought on ways to renew, refresh, and re-engage the podcast.

There are a few incredible interviews coming up, and you will hear them in force over the next few weeks; however, on this auspicious start—the first podcast of the new year we are trying something a little different.

In today’s episode, the guest is me :) I spend a few minutes recapping the past few months and reflecting. The inspiration behind the reflection is this idea of “the moment when anything is possible”

A Book Launch, A Story, A Countdown—From Me to You

“51 Questions on Social Entrepreneurship” Launches Today!

There is something incredibly humbling about working deeply on a project and then asking for feedback. And, it’s beyond helpful to ‘get out of your head’ and listen to the candid comments of your trusted network. Reaching out to friends, family, and mentors throughout the book-writing process and working with professional editors and designers has provided fresh perspective at pivotal moments. The process has made the book so many times better ! #gratitude

Once the book was in a more final stage, it was ready for review by people in the social impact space who continually inspire and set examples with their work to bring the social impact sector forward. Their reflections on the book were validating and also formed a valuable personal reminder about the seed of purpose that started this whole process. :)

Sharing through media has made the book-writing and platform-building process more meaningful. Exponentially so. The Innov8social Podcast features interviews with dozens of thinkers and doers, and it has also been special to be interviewed by inspiring social entrepreneurs too. Best of all, meeting people and organizations driven to create impact, has led to exciting collaborations, partnerships, and new potential!

Here are a few of the incredible organizations and entities that have have been collaborators, media partners, and broadcasters in 2015…excited to deepen collaboration potential and build new connections in 2016!

As it turns out, an author is only one part of the content. Then come the editors, interior book designers, and crowdsourced design. This book has not only benefitted from all three, but wouldn’t exist without all three. Additionally, it has the good fortune of featuring some very special interior illustrations by LA-based, mission-driven design firm, verynice. There’s nothing quite like working with social enterprise designers (who have opted for a ‘give half” business model, where they give 50% of their services to pro bono clients) on a book about social entrepreneurship.

Synchronicity!

Once the idea of a book became clear, then came the process of organizing data from blog posts, mapping the questions, researching, and devising a story to tie together the questions…

Through exploring social innovation, I found it can be hard to find places that centralize and guide interested changemakers on the amazing and growing resources in the space. So, that became a mission. And the idea for a new, actionable, engaging book to invite new social impact thinkers and doers to the table, was born :)

Meeting people dedicated and committed to creating impact, in whatever way they can, has given me purpose and a personal vision of using my strengths to contribute, share, and invite others into the space.
