2020
The COVID19 pandemic leads to cancellations and brainstorming new paths forward.

2019
15th US Impactathon® convenes, partnership signed for 1st international Impactathon® next year.
Begin seeing some of our 375+ Impactathon alumni go on to raise funds, make critical pivots, connect with each other, and create exponential impact. Innov8social marks 75+ speaking engagements. 500+ blog posts. 150+ episodes of The Impact Podcast. A growing online community.
2018
Began referring to our role as social impact ecosystem builders. Released a season of The Impact Podcast on this topic.
Through our near-decade of involvement in the social impact sector, it became more clear that developing only social entrepreneurs, impact investors, impact analysts, conscious consumers wouldn’t be enough. The broader goal and focus should be building resilient, robust social impact ecosystems.

2016
1st Impactathon® convenes in San Francisco.

This is the first live event for Innov8social. Fun fact, it is named Impactathon® after the characters in the book meet at an “Impactathon.”
2015
"51 Questions on Social Entrepreneurship" publishes as book, ebook, and audiobook.
Work with a design firm, numerous editors, a typesetter, and graphic designers to bring to book to reality. The Innov8social “tribe” of supporters, believers, and friends rises to successfully fund a crowdfunding campaign and provide invaluable feedback on the book.
2014
Audio interviews become podcasts and are published to streaming platforms.
The podcast goes on to be re-named “The Impact Podcast by Innov8social” and becomes available on podcast platforms. Work with talented sound designer and operations and research specialists to produce a weekly episode.
2013
Begin sharing knowledge through workshops on social media for impact, social enterprise, and legal structures.
Partner with youth leadership organizations and law schools to share this content to empower and inform students.
2012
Blog interview series that will become The Impact Podcast starts.

Innov8social launches as a blog.

The journey starts in parallel with the passage of AB361 the “benefit corporation” legislation, which introduces a new social enterprise corporate form into law in California in 2011.

TEAM & TALENT

Neetal Parekh is a social impact ecosystem builder and licensed attorney, with expertise in digital strategy, storytelling, and communications.

Neetal is the author of book 51 Questions on Social Entrepreneurship, host of The Impact Podcast by Innov8social, convener of Impactathon®, and a frequent speaker, facilitator, and moderator on topics including social enterprise, social entrepreneurship, and ways entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and consumers can build and strengthen ecosystems for social impact.

Neetal holds a B.A. in International Political Science from UCLA, where she interned at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, India. She pursued her interest in international work through volunteering in rural India and studying public human rights law in Geneva and Strasbourg. Her past experience includes strategy roles at FindLaw, Calvert Foundation, Net Impact, and a handful of early-stage startups. She also served as Chief of Product and Impact at an education company (and public benefit corporation) where she designed and delivered entrepreneurship and business education.

Neetal has participated as a fellow in StartingBloc, Boem Media Fellowship at Opportunity Collaboration, Hive Global Leaders, and New Leaders Council, where she also served on the Advisory Board. She also engaged with the Executive team of VLAB, the MIT Enterprise Forum Bay Area Chapter at Stanford University, as Outreach Chair, and serves on the Advisory Board for SXSW Pitch Advisory Board.

A passionate advocate for social entrepreneurship and impact innovation, Neetal believes that this field empowers us to creatively re-imagine how businesses and individuals can create meaningful impact and lasting value.
